Biosynthesis of Glucaric Acid with Microbial Cell Factories
نویسندگان
چکیده
Glucaric acid is a kind of organic acid and widely used in food, medicine and chemical industries. During the past decade, model microorganisms such as Escherichia coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae have been engineered for production of glucaric acid. Especially, Pichia pastoris has also been engineered for production of glucaric acid with the highest reported value. In this commentary, recent efforts and advances for glucaric acid biosynthesis were discussed. Received date: 13/10/2016 Accepted date: 20/12/2016 Published date: 26/12/2016

Retro-biosynthesis for the microbial production of organic compounds
Project Summary This project was concerned with the development of a methodology for the specification of novel biosynthetic pathways towards organic compounds. Our overall objective is to expand the potential for biological production of small molecules, especially for compounds that have either unknown or intractable natural routes. As a model compound, we chose to design and assemble pathway...
متن کاملSpecialty chemicals from microbes
Synthesis gas, that consists largely of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrogen, has been used in a process to make the commodity chemical, 2-hydroxybutyric acid. This news report discusses a proposal to alter regulations of materials and products involved in using synthetic biology to make chemicals. Genetic engineering can be complex and time consuming. This research paper describes an a...
متن کاملGenetic dissection of the polyoxin building block-carbamoylpolyoxamic acid biosynthesis revealing the “pathway redundancy” in metabolic networks
BACKGROUND Polyoxin, a peptidyl nucleoside antibiotic, consists of three building blocks including a nucleoside skeleton, polyoximic acid (POIA), and carbamoylpolyoxamic acid (CPOAA), however, little is known about the "pathway redundancy" of the metabolic networks directing the CPOAA biosynthesis in the cell factories of the polyoxin producer. RESULTS Here we report the genetic characterizat...

© 2015 Lin and Yan. Erratum to: Microbial Cell Factories 2012, 11:42 DOI 10.1186/1475‐2859‐11‐42 Recently, we have noticed an accidental error existing in this article [1]. In the section Materials and Methods “Construction of Plasmids”, we mistakenly described that “the gene cluster hpaBC was amplified from E. coli MG1655 genome”. This information should be corrected as “the gene cluster hpaBC...
متن کاملProduction of glucaric acid from a synthetic pathway in recombinant Escherichia coli.
A synthetic pathway has been constructed for the production of glucuronic and glucaric acids from glucose in Escherichia coli. Coexpression of the genes encoding myo-inositol-1-phosphate synthase (Ino1) from Saccharomyces cerevisiae and myo-inositol oxygenase (MIOX) from mice led to production of glucuronic acid through the intermediate myo-inositol. Glucuronic acid concentrations up to 0.3 g/l...
